# Ten Years, Still a Yes: The Ryans' Pet Wants Story

![Blog Details](https://petwantsfranchise.com/hubfs/original-CC050FBE-3F04-4676-903E-3C5AC9661DF8.jpeg)

- October 9 2026

Ten years ago, Ewa and Chuck Ryan opened their Pet Wants business. This year they marked their 10-year anniversary, and they renewed their franchise agreement for the next chapter.

Renewal is one of the most honest signals in franchising. Anyone can be excited on day one. Choosing to recommit after a full decade of customers, pets, and the everyday challenges of ownership says something different. We asked Ewa to look back on the journey, and her answers capture why so many Pet Wants owners build businesses they want to keep.

#### It Started With Goliath

The Ryans found Pet Wants as customers first. Their two-year-old Cane Corso, Goliath, was having digestive issues, and they were searching for a higher-quality food. Chuck came across Pet Wants, so they ordered it and had it shipped to them.

"After we started feeding it to Goliath, we saw a huge difference in his digestion," Ewa says. "That was really the moment for me. I had experienced the difference with my own dog, and I thought, 'I want to be part of this.'"

Ewa had always loved dogs, and she was drawn to what she calls a unique business model: a way to help pet parents make better choices about fresh, high-quality food. "In the beginning, there was so much to learn, but I was excited and passionate about what I was doing," she says. "Ten years later, that passion has only grown."

#### "The Best Poop!"

Ask Ewa about a customer who stuck with her, and she goes straight to one pet parent whose dog had struggled with digestive problems for a long time. The owner had tried many different things and made many trips to the vet, and she was running out of ideas.

Ewa first recommended a supplement. Three weeks later, the customer was seeing some improvement, but things still weren't 100%. So Ewa suggested switching to Pet Wants food. On her next visit, the customer couldn't wait to share the news: her dog finally had "the best poop!"

"It may sound funny," Ewa says, "but when you have a dog who has struggled with digestive problems for a long time, something as simple as a normal, healthy poop can feel like a huge accomplishment."

For Ewa, that moment defined the work. "It reminded me that what I do is about much more than selling food or supplements," she says. "It's about listening to people, understanding what they are going through with their pets, and helping them explore options that may make a difference."

#### From Pet Food to Trusted Resource

The biggest change over ten years? The business has become much more than a place to buy food.

Goliath sparked Ewa's interest in quality nutrition, and that curiosity kept growing. She kept learning about nutrition and overall wellness so she could better help her customers. Today, people come to her not just to restock, but to ask questions, talk through what's going on with their pets, and explore their options.

"What means the most to me is the trust and relationships I have built with my customers," Ewa says. "Some have been with me for many years, and I've had the chance to watch their pets grow from puppies into seniors."

She describes it as a business that grew into something she never expected: a place to combine her love for animals with nutrition, education, wellness, and helping pet parents make informed choices.

#### Still a Yes

With their renewal signed, Ewa is focused on what's next: continuing to learn, expanding her knowledge of nutrition and wellness, and finding new ways to help pets live healthier, happier lives.

She's candid that owning a business has its challenges. But looking back on ten years of lessons, people, pets, and relationships, her answer to the big question is clear. If she could go back and choose again, knowing everything she knows now, would she still do it?

"Ten years later, if I had the chance to make the choice all over again, I would still say yes."

Congratulations to Ewa and Chuck on ten years, and thank you for everything you've given to your customers, their pets, and the Pet Wants family.
