Meet Emily Roberts, VP of Marketing
Joining Pet Wants this year as the Vice President of Marketing, Emily Roberts brings with her more than 15 years of marketing and business development experience. Of her new role, she says, "I am truly honored and excited by this opportunity." And she is not shy in sharing her big goals for the Pet Wants brand, saying, “There are more than 40 thousand zip codes in the United States. We’ve only touched the surface of what we can do for the pet industry.”
For her new role, Emily is “coming home” to Cincinnati, where Pet Wants is headquartered. Prior to joining the Pet Wants team, she worked for seven years with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, collaborating and directing her team in the country’s largest celebration, Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. She also served as an Adjunct Professor for the University of Cincinnati and was the Director of Corporate Relations at the “magical place,” the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
In early 2020, Emily decided to take advantage of the flexible work environment resulting from the pandemic and relocate to Phoenix, Arizona. She worked remotely while traveling with her pup, Pepper, enjoying the time to stamp her “domestic passport” by touring National Parks across the United States. Sadly, her loyal, best friend, Pepper, passed away earlier this year, so having that time with her is something she cherishes.
While Emily is glad to be back in Cincinnati in her role with Pet Wants, she is looking forward to the opportunity to engage her wanderlust by seeing the country through the lens of the Pet Wants franchise owners she will have the chance to meet.
As VP of Marketing, Emily views herself and the rest of the Pet Wants support team as a partner with the franchise owners. She notes that she particularly loves that Pet Wants franchise owners are all very different and appreciates that they put their own “personal stamp on their business” through displays and showcasing. “We are blessed to have a talented, deep roster of amazing entrepreneurs that are open to paying it forward to support each other.”
When asked why a potential franchise owner should choose the pet nutrition industry, Emily is quick to point out its exponential growth over the past 18 months. There are no signs of it slowing down and, in fact, the pet category is the fastest-growing segment in consumer packaged goods. “People are educating themselves about what they’re eating and that includes what they are feeding their pets,” she notes.
With the industry poised to continue growing, Emily says that the Pet Wants team is “plowing ahead to improve processes in 2021, including testing new technologies to provide seamless operations.” This will allow franchise owners to hit the ground running in 2022, which has them excited and energized.
